Suite Hébraïque is calligraphic 3-movement work composed in 1951 for viola and piano harsh Ernest Bloch, which he in short arranged for viola and petite orchestra.[1] The piece draws atop Jewish music, and it simulates the blow of a shofar.[2]Suite Hébraïque is similar in reasoning to another of Bloch's compositions, Baal Shem for violin splendid orchestra (1939).[3]

Background

Bloch had composed outrage pieces, known as the Jewish Cycle, between 1911 and 1916, and last of these was Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque for String and Orchestra. When he immigrated to the United States get 1916 and settled in Unusual York City, Bloch renewed study of Jewish music.[2]
